About

I am a software engineer with a background in React, Redux, Javascript, Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, R, HTML5 and CSS3. My latest project is an interactive recipe database that allows users to create an account, browse, edit, and upload their favorite recipes and comment on other user recipes. I was also the frontend lead on a team that developed an app for surfers that allows users to get weather and tide data, find surf spots, and log their surf sessions.

I have a masters degree in Environmental Science and am passionate about sustainability and clean technologies. I hope to use my skills in frontend and fullstack design to help move us closer towards a more sustainable and inclusive future.

I was born in Sweden, grew up in Switzerland, lived in Burma, Malaysia, Costa Rica, and have also studied the languages of these places. Learning languages and engaging with foreign cultures is a strong passion of mine.

Projects

iCook

iCook is a recipe database and resource for people who like cooking great meals. It allows members to post their own recipes, view other member recipes and comment on them. No membership is required to view the recipes in the database, login is only necessary to post, edit, or delete recipes or comments. The site was built using Rails in the backend and React/Redux in the frontend.

Swell

Swell is an app that allows users to see approximate tide information about anywhere they want to surf. Users can review spots to fill in any information about the beach not provided. The surfers log allows users to journal their sessions, allowing them to go back and remember past surfs.

Art

Here are a few of my art peices. I mostly work with digital media, Illustrator, Photoshop, and the iPad Pro, using the apple pen with Procreate. Much of my work have themes of cultural, political, and philosophical elements, examining humans in their social landscapes.

Boulder Bubble

People living in Boulder Colorado are considered to be living in a political and cultural bubble, isolated from the "real America". It's like looking at the world with rose-tinted glasses, more beautiful than reality itself.

Persistant Illusion

Created using Google's Deep Dream algorithm to analyze images. This dream recreates Einstein in the form of a fractal. It is part of a deep dream series I did on Einstein.

Silent Action series

I created a set of digital watercolor paintings with the absence of humans in action. It represents anonymity and detachment of individuality, showcasing great feats without the presence of ego.
